Johan Bode (1749- 1826), a German astronomer, is best known for rediscovery of the "law" bearing his name that predicts the distances from the sun to the planets. He produced this Guide to the Knowledge of the Stars as part of his long career of spreading astronomical knowledge to both scientists and the public.
