Observational Journals

The following observational journals have been separated from the collection due to their physical condition. This condition makes use somewhat prohibitive. The journals are extremely dirty, have evidence of active mold and mildew, and the paper and bindings are fragile. Some of the bindings are separated from the signatures and some of the signatures are loose. If a researcher needs to use the materials, extreme caution must be used as handling the journals could not only be physically hazardous to the user, but also will contribute to further damage of the materials. Therefore, casual use of the materials is strongly discouraged. Journals 1 to 19 are housed in Boxes 34, 35 and 36. Boxes 37 and 38 contain journals with records of the printing chronograph, c1873.
