Dudley Observatory receives $750 from Stewart’s Holiday Match

During the International Year of Astronomy 2009, Dudley Observatory will be sending a science educator to schools, museums, environmental education centers, and other venues to present hands-on programs designed to entice students and their families to explore their place in the universe.  The Stewart’s Holiday Match will fund the development and presentation of programs to be used in conjunction with the celebration of the International Year of Astronomy 2009.  We wish to thank Stewart’s Shops for their positive consideration to our request for a grant.

The Dudley Observatory has been supporting research and education in astronomy and the history of astronomy for over 150 years.  While celebrating the International Year of Astronomy 2009 (IYA2009), which commemorates the 400th anniversary of the first use of an astronomical telescope, we will promote a greater appreciation of the inspirational aspects of astronomy while stimulating interest in astronomy and science under the central theme "The Universe, Yours to Discover".
